Colour Trend Forecast

Pantone no.: 255C, Warm Gray 6C, 2907C, 108C, 725C, Process Black C
I have used purple, warm gray, royal purple, chrome yellow, brown and black colours for the colour forecast of DKNY 2009 F/W collection.
I mixed the warm colour, including chrome yellow, with the cool colours, including purple, black and brown. For the last seasons, we are not difficult to see that Donna Karen would like to use both the warm and cool colours for her collections, so will be in the 2009 collection.
I have chosen the purple color, because it is a cool colour which is quite sharp and it was mixed by the red, which is a warm colour originally, but this time I only use the purple colour in constant chroma and medium value to match with the silence of autumn and winter.
On the other hand, to stand out the total collection, I always put the yellow with purple. It is a little bit like the DKNY 2008 F/W collection, as Donna Karen use the pale orange to stand out the black. However, this time I choose the yellow in a high chroma and tint, instead of the pale one for 2009 F/W collection, it is because more the contrast can draw more attention from the crowded. For the use of purple with yellow, it is the application of the Complimentary Colour Scheme, which is aimed at using colours opposite to each other in the colour wheel.

As the above colourwheel shown in above, the chrome yellow is located opposite to the purple colour exactly, that's what I said about the Complimentary Colour scheme. In addition, these two opposite colours should be one of warm colour(chrome yellow) and one of cool colour(purple).
Moreover, I also applied the SplitComplimentary Colour scheme for my collection, the scheme is similar to the complimentary colour scheme, but we should choose the adjacent colours 30º each way of the compliment. In my collection, I always match the purple, chrome yellow and brown together, those three colours located in the colourwheel is exactly what the shape like the SplitComplimentary colour scheme.

Class Exercise: Fashion Collection(2)

Pantone no.: 3945C, 465C, Warm Gray 6C, 414C, Process Black C, 254C

I use the gold and silver colours to create the feeling of 'future' in this collection, then match with the warm gray, yellow, purple and black. However, in the software, I cannot find the pantone no. for gold and silver, so I use the similar colour to replace when translate the basic colours family for this collection.

I apply the Complimentary colour scheme to match purple with yellow.

Class Exercise: Fashion Collection(1)

Pantone: 7516C, 681C, 5767C, 2738C, 394C, Warm Gray 6C

In this collection, the green and purple colours are both in medium chroma and low value, the yellow and blue are both in constant value and chroma.

I mainly used the constant chroma&value colours to stand out the total in this collection, for example, yellow belt match with the purple&gray dress.

Complimentary colour scheme is applied, where yellow and purple are two colours on the opposite side in the colour wheel (outfits 2,4,6). Triadic colour scheme is also applied, for the three colours of brown, blue and yellow.

Pantone no: 158C, 375C, 192C, 347C, 393C, 7404C

In this collection, yellow in high chroma and medium value, and yellow in medium chroma and constant value are used, so is the green colour.

I mainly use the warm colours for the collection, e.g. red, yellow&green, but I also match the red with brown, which is matching of warm and cool colour.

I use the Analogic colour scheme, which three adjacent colours in the colour wheel are used, for example, in outfit 3, 5,6, I use yellow, green and brown.

Pictures

In this picture, it was taken in an archromatic tone, it means that in black, gray and white tone. This archromatic tone makes the lipstick colour stand out, the lipstick colour is a high-chroma red, which is called magenta.

In this picture, the yellow nails match with blue volleyball. For the yellow colour, it is in medium chroma, and is a shade, called chrome-yellow; For the blue, it is in high chroma with a medium value, called cerulean-blue. It is quite a contrast between these two colours.
